A website analysis is a check of your website on four points: the technical side (speed, HTTPS, how it works on a phone), search visibility (is your site in Google, and how), the content (does a visitor understand what you offer) and requests (can someone request or buy something, and does it reach you). A technical website analysis is limited to the technical side and indexing: does your site load smoothly, and can Google read and include it?

A free scan quickly gives you a score out of 100, but doesn't test whether a request actually reaches you: it doesn't look in your mailbox. For an SME, that's exactly what weighs heaviest. Below is a ten-minute round with free tools and your own phone, followed by the detailed analysis of our own site, including where it scores poorly.

## What a website analysis covers, and with which free tools

Part Free tool Step Technical PageSpeed Insights, Search Console, your phone 1, 4, 5 search visibility Search Console (URL inspection and Performance), Google itself 2, 3 Content None: someone who doesn't know your business outside the round Enquiries Your form, your mailbox, Google Analytics 4 6

Steps 1, 2, 4 and 5 together make up the technical website analysis, and tools are strong at that. Search Console's [Core Web Vitals report](https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/9205520?hl=nl) also shows the speed for real visitors, if there are enough. Google Analytics 4 counts what visitors do, including how many [submit a form](https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/9216061?hl=nl) , but with a cookie banner like ours, it only counts those who accept analytics cookies. What GA4 does and doesn't tell a small site, you can read in [our GA4 post](https://fokuus.be/en/blog/google-analytics-4/) .

No tool measures whether your offer is clear: have someone who doesn't know your business look at your homepage for ten seconds, and ask what you sell and to whom. And whether a request is actually usable, you only see in your mailbox.

Six checks, together ten minutes. The last one weighs most heavily, and no scan tool looks in your mailbox.

## 1. Measure speed in PageSpeed Insights

Go to [pagespeed.web.dev](https://pagespeed.web.dev/) , paste your homepage address and after the analysis choose the Mobile tab. That's where we see the difference: on 25 September 2026, fokuus.be scored 99 to 100 for performance on desktop, 73 to 74 on mobile.

At the top are measurements from real Chrome visitors over 28 days, below that a simulation with a mid-range device on a mobile network ([Google's explanation](https://developers.google.com/speed/docs/insights/v5/about) ). For fokuus.be it said "No data" there on 25 September: not enough real visitors.

One of our measurements on 25 September 2026 on mobile: no real user data, 74 for performance and a red LCP of 4.8 seconds.

In the circles, 90 to 100 is good, 50 to 89 is fair and below 50 is poor. Below that, first look at Largest Contentful Paint (LCP), the time until the largest piece of content is in view. For real visitors, 2.5 seconds or less is good and more than 4 seconds is poor ([Google's thresholds](https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/9205520?hl=nl) ); for the simulation that's a guideline.

Our mobile LCP was 4.7 to 4.8 seconds on 25 September, so red. The report also showed where the time went: most of the time wasn't spent downloading the largest image, but waiting for it to be displayed. Do measure at least twice, though, since the score fluctuates from measurement to measurement.

Also click open what's marked wrong under a score. On 25 September our SEO score was 92, because of one line in robots.txt: a deliberate directive for AI systems that Lighthouse, the engine behind PageSpeed, doesn't recognize. Google [ignores invalid rules](https://developers.google.com/crawling/docs/robots-txt/robots-txt-spec) . A forgotten block would be a different story.

## 2. Check in Search Console whether Google knows your pages

Whether Google indexes your pages, you can see in Search Console, free after a one-time verification of your site. Type the full address of your homepage into the search bar at the top, and then your main service page: that's the [URL inspection](https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/9012289?hl=nl) . Our homepage was on "Submitted and indexed" on 19 October 2026. Under Performance you see, per search term, the impressions (how often you appeared in Google), the clicks and your average position ([Google](https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/7576553?hl=nl) ).

If you see "Crawled - currently not indexed", Google visited the page but didn't index it, and that can [according to Google](https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/7440203?hl=nl) still change later. For a page that's only a few days old, that's normal: our new blog posts got indexed within about two weeks. If an important page stays there for months, that usually says something about the content. That's what we learned with 29 of our 32 old blog posts, see [our SEO tips](https://fokuus.be/en/blog/seo-tips/) .

## 3. Your title as Google displays it

Search for your business name and read the blue title. Google generates it automatically and doesn't always use the title you set ([Google on titles](https://developers.google.com/search/docs/appearance/title-link) ). In our code it says "Websites, online stores and automation | Fokuus"; Google showed on 25 September 2026 "Fokuus: Websites, online stores and automation". Perfect: the name up front, the message intact.

Red flags are a vague title like "Home", the same title on every page, or a title that gets cut off on your phone before the word you want to be found for.

## 4. One address, via HTTPS

Type your domain in the address bar, once with www in front and once without. Both should end up at the same address: with us www.fokuus.be redirects to fokuus.be.

Your browser proves nothing for HTTP, because Chrome itself converts an HTTP address to HTTPS as soon as your site supports that ([Chromium blog](https://blog.chromium.org/2023/08/towards-https-by-default.html) ). Check that in the [HTTPS report](https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/11396518?hl=nl) from Search Console: ideally no indexed page appears there on HTTP. Red flag: HTTP pages that do appear, or a version with and without www that both load.

## 5. Your site on your own phone

Google discontinued its mobile-friendly test on [1 December 2023](https://developers.google.com/search/blog/2016/05/a-new-mobile-friendly-testing-tool) . You'll need to test it yourself. Turn off your wifi, open your homepage and tap your phone number: does your calling app open? Open the menu, read a paragraph without zooming in, and scroll to the bottom.

Red flag: zooming needed, buttons you misclick, or a notification covering your call button. If everything feels smooth, keep in mind that your own phone is probably faster than your customer's.

## 6. Test your form and count what comes in

Fill in your own contact form, once on your phone and once on your computer, with an email address different from your business email. Check if the email arrives, including in spam, and whether the visitor sees a confirmation after sending. If you don't immediately know which address those emails go to, that's already a finding.

Then count what came in over the past three months, and separate real requests from tests and spam. When we checked that for fokuus.be on 16 September 2026, our form hadn't produced a single real request yet, only tests and spam. How to get usable requests out of it, you can read in [improving your contact form](https://fokuus.be/en/blog/contact-formulier-meer-leads/) .

## Example: the fokuus.be analysis, worked out

This is what the result looks like when you write out the round: fokuus.be on 19 October 2026, unless a different date is given.

What we found What it means What you do about it PageSpeed mobile (25 September): performance 73 to 74, LCP 4.7 to 4.8 seconds, no real user data Red, and only simulated: not enough visitors measured Re-measure after every change to the homepage, twice each time SEO score 92 (25 September) because of one line in robots.txt, which is still there A deliberate directive for AI systems Leave it Homepage indexed; www and HTTP redirect to fokuus.be Fine Nothing, check again next month Contact form: no real request until 16 September, two from outside between 17 September and 14 October, one possibly a test It works, but little comes in; GA4 only saw one, the other came in without cookies Count in the mailbox every month, not just in GA4

The difference between a scan and an analysis is in that third column: what you do with it, and what you'd better leave alone.

## So you know if your round was successful

After ten minutes you don't have a score, but you do have six answers. Write them down with the date per line, as above: that's your baseline measurement.

If you change something, repeat the same step the same way. In URL inspection, you test the new version with "Test live URL" and then request indexing. The PageSpeed figures from real users cover 28 days, so there you only see an improvement gradually.

## Get a website analysis done

Prefer not to do it yourself? Our free [AI check](https://fokuus.be/en/ai-check/) is an online scan on fokuus.be. It checks whether search engines and AI assistants such as ChatGPT can reach and read your website. The scan runs on the international ora benchmark, over 100 checks across four layers, and is stricter than a regular SEO check: a low score is normal. You see your score and the first layer immediately, without an account; you get the full report via a link by email. Note: your domain score is then public on ora.ai.

Whether a request actually comes in and whether your offer convinces, it doesn't measure. Want us to take a look with you? Leave your details at the bottom of that page: you'll get a price upfront, and we charge separate assignments at 80 euro per hour excl. VAT.
